Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Identify the concepts of “stereotype”, “prejudice” and “personal bias” and their effect on selecting the best candidate
- Identify the grounds of discrimination, and what types of questions are illegal during the hiring process
- Understand how differences can positively or negatively affect the outcome of the interview process
- Explain the concept of “culture”, recognize cultural realities within one’s own and other groups’ cultures, and how culture may affect the interviewing process
- Identify strategies to create a bias-aware recruitment process from the application stage to the selection stage
- Identify techniques and approaches to conduct fair interviews and to better assess interview candidates from diverse backgrounds
Methodology
Bias-Aware is an interactive course based on adult education principles and led by one of our experienced trainers. Participants will participate in mock interviews and draft inclusive position postings and interview questions.
Duration
Bias-Aware is a half-day to two-day workshop depending on need. Graybridge Malkam will adapt this course to meet the specific needs of your organization.
