COURSE BENEFITS
Our Official Language Training (OLT) program places emphasis on authenticity in communication along with the transfer of knowledge. Our program is in accordance with the Official Languages Act/Policy and the Public Service Commission’s (PSC) standards. Our OLT program will ensure you meet your Level A, B, or C objectives, in either French or English, during your Second Language Evaluation test.
Course Objectives
For French language training (PFL2):
This program covers levels A, B and C and enables students to acquire the skills necessary to interact in French in the workplace and in everyday situations.
- PFL2 - A and B comprise forty (40) training objectives and are designed to ensure that the student achieves or maintains level B proficiency.
- PFL2 - C comprises two (2) preparatory sessions and four (4) modules, and is designed to ensure that the student achieves or maintains level C.
For English language training (CEWP):
This program covers levels A, B and C and enables students to acquire the necessary skills to interact in English in the workplace and in everyday situations. More specifically, the program material is entitled: Interface Canada for levels A and B; and Interaction Canada for level C.
Interface Canada comprises 68 main objectives grouped into eight (8) workbooks:
1 to 3 for level A and 4 to 8 for level B.
Interaction Canada comprises 20 main objectives and 20 specific objectives, grouped into four (4) sessions for level C.
Methodology
Our Official Language Training programs, led by our expert instructors, are based on the following approaches and principles:
- Detailed linguistic assessment and needs analysis
- Courses are specific to the needs of each distinct group of participants, drawing upon best practices of adult education and cognitive approach
- Communicative method and principles of adult second language acquisition are the basis of our pedagogy
- Theme and task-based instruction facilitates individualized approach and supports the use of authentic language
- Authentic teaching/learning materials (workplace documents and websites, newspapers, radio and television programs, and other materials relevant to learners’ needs) make the program relevant and interesting to the learners
- Recommendations for self-directed learning take the language outside of the classroom and promote continuous learning

Federal public sector workers required to meet English or French second language proficiency.

The length of your program will be determined based on a thorough linguistic assessment and needs analysis.

Courses are offered on client or Graybridge Malkam premises and are available on-demand.
